Gender and governance training program

GGTP An Introduction
Gender and Governance Training Program (GGTP) is an intensive training program for increasing awareness on issues of Gender and Governance. Its aim is to facilitate gender sensitivity and good governance among youth, women and development organizations through training. This a four month training program. First 2½ month is for in-house session which includes development issues and theory of research methodology. This part of training also includes a group research conducted by the participants. After that, in the last 1½ month they will work as Intern in different development organization including Democracywatch.
This training contains sessions on Development issues, Research Methodology and Internship. These sessions are generally conducted by renowned and experienced resource persons who have been working in the relevant sector for several years. During in-house sessions, the students have to take part in the sessions as each session is participatory and they the students have to join in group work. They have to carry out a research as a part of their training. They also have to take part in group discussion and presentation on relevant issues.
As reinforcements the students will be attached to number of activities such as watch films, documentaries, observe various important days like international human rights day, International women's day etc, participate in different relevant workshop, seminar, visit Parliament, drop-in center, Day care center. After attending each workshop, seminar they have to submit a report on that.
The course is accredited. It is evaluated through an evaluation form. It is evaluated on the basis of a participants' commitment, punctuality, participation in the group work or discussion, involvement in the research work, sincerity etc. It can be said that a participant is evaluated on the basis of her/his overall performance. At the beginning of the training the participants will be assessed through a pre-course evaluation form and then a post evaluation form at the end of the in-house session. The resource persons will also be evaluated by the participants through an evaluation form. The idea is to involve them into projects on issues close to their home.
This will increase their relationship with the community, emphasize on learning based on experience (as adult students) and enable them to identify problems on In order to make the course self-sustained in the end we intend to charge a minimum fee. It is Tk. 6500.
The target participants are be university/college graduates, Young professionals.
The Initial idea is to run the training with a small class size that will not exceed 20 in number. After 2½ months of training the students will be discharged for research and internship which will last for 1½ months.
They will work as interns either in our projects or be placed with other development organizations.
Before going for internship they will identify a problem to research on, develop the hypothesis, research questions, and data collecting instruments in the research methodology class. They are supposed to submit their research report and other report at the end of the training. On completion of the training they will receive a certificate from Democracywatch and a recommendation letter from the NGO where they are placed for internship.
We try to attend the students within our office time prior to enrollment where interested people can come and find out more about the course before they decide to join it.
